  Yesterday, Saturday, we had the visit of our brother and good friend, Pierre Manzo , black belt under Robert Drysdale , and Head Coach at Jiu Jitsu Family. Along with him, one of his students, a talented 20 year old monster, who has been training already, in teams like the B-Team in Texas with Craig Jones, Nick Rodriguez, Nicky Ryan, Oliver Taza, etc..    The Open Mat started as usual at Casa de Luta Saarbrücken at 11:00, where every team is welcome and completely free of charge. Pierre and I got together for more than an hour where we were able to kill each other and exchange knowledge during the rolls, as well as help him with the mechanics of some of my leglocks. I also had the opportunity to roll with Arthur, Pierre's talented young student, a very technical guy with great precision on his attacks, with very good guard passes to back take, dangerous!   Today was the last high intensity training for Mraz Avdoyan before his next fight on 10/29/2022 at Oktagon Prime in Kosice (Slovakia). Almost two hours of high intensity grappling where the first hour was dedicated only to Jiu Jitsu, leg attacks and back attacks, where submission was the goal. The next hour we focused more on Wrestling, where we worked rounds where we had to defend trying to keep the top position and rounds where we had to take our opponent to the ground and keep him under control for a few seconds, positioning and pressure was the key. Always changing roles, so as not to get used to a single position or type of work. It is important to work always being unpredictable and trying within our abilities to have a complete game, so that we are not caught by surprise.  Mraz is a guy with extreme strength and a very high technical level for his size and weight.   I would like to share with all of you my promotion to black belt, a very important day for all of us who share the same passion. A day full of emotions, not because of the change of color,  if not for the memories and remembrances it brought me back. I started doing Jiu Jitsu in one of the worst stages of my life, where I had practically lost everything, girlfriend, house, family, job... Some very dark and difficult times, where Jiu Jitsu was always there, with which I learned to move forward no matter how many times I had to tap on the mats as in life.  I am not going to lie; I was in this situation, at least for 1 year, trying to find solutions, the way not to change country and to stay united to my family, but the more time passed without solutions the more I got dark, starting to lose sense to life...   slowly falling into a depression.  So I decided to make a decision that I had been trying to avoid for a long time, to leave everything behind, and to launch myself into an advent

  Sadly the last day of the Team Convention Pound for Pound / Carlson Gracie in Munich, Saarbrücken, has arrived. At 09:00 in the morning the seminar started with our Headcoach Sergio Zimmermann "Canudo" . Once we arrived there punctually, we first thanked all the attendees, then we were lined up in order of graduation, and after a few good words from Sergio Canudo and Carlson Gracie , the surprises arrived. Our Head Coach and one of the creators of the Pound for Pound team, Sergio Zimmermann "Canudo", pulled out a brown belt hidden in his kimono, and called our Women's Only Coach, Katrin Welker , to hand over the belt. A surprise she had not expected at any time, so she reacted excitedly and with great happiness.   Second day of the convention, somewhat more recovered after the first exhaustive first day, due to travel. At 10:00 am we had Maestro Andre Nunes, Headcoach of Gracie Barra Hamburg. A very interesting seminar, where he focused mainly on the half guard and knee shield to the mount or back with different options using pressure as the main objective. A simpler game for those who are not used to the fast and agile movement of a lightweight as is the case of champion Ffion Davies. Two intense but super interesting hours, which were short in my opinion, but could easily be applied during the Open Mat, due to the ease of learning. After rolling for one hour straight during the Open Mat, we went to lunch, rested for a little while, and headed back to the venue where we would have legend Carlson Gracie Jr.  At 17:00 the seminar started with an exceptional closed guard work, very simple and old school technical.   First day of the convention in munich organized by Professor and European and World muti champion Sergio Canudo Zimmermann in Munich, Germany. The first seminar will be held at 20: 00 with the fabulous Ffion Davies , recent ADCC 2022 and 2018-2019 IBJJF World No-Gi Champion, European Champion, Pan Am Champion. We had to leave Casa De Luta Saarbrücken at 12:00 a.m. in order to arrive on time to the hotel where we would be staying close to where the convention would take place. Six exhausting hours of road travel where we would have several traffic jams due to accidents or maintenance works. Once we arrived in Munich, we unloaded our bags at the hotel and put on our Gis and headed to the place where the seminar was taking place. Once we arrived there, we were surprised with the amount of people arriving from different parts of Europe.   Abelbjj and Julian  This week we have had the visit of Julian, a future MMA fighter, who in November makes his debut representing the MMA Spirit team. His beginnings in Martial Arts were at an early age, entering the world of Karate. Over the years his interest in MMA increased until he decided to start learning Jiu Jitsu under the teaching of Abel Simon, better known as Abelbjj in social networks. Julian moved to Frankfurt due to his studies and where he continued his training and even more focused on his evolution in MMA, where he also added K1, Muay Thai and Kickbnoxing to his training.
