A F*cking Nightmare! I don't know whether to laugh or cry...
Fight cancelled after last night's weigh-in at Event MMA Xplosif in France! Monday I find out that Noah's opponent was injured. Wednesday we are told that we have a replacement and if Noah wants to fight with a small weight change. Without any hesitation, Noah accepts.
Friday Noah is on his way to the weigh in event, one day before the fight, while I finish my classes at Casa de Luta. Until the weigh in everything normal, 73 kilos nailed as agreed. Hours later I receive a message from Noah telling me that I don't need to go there because the fight was cancelled due to the federation not accepting his opponent's permission to fight that day. Noah tries to negotiate and fight in a higher division, against another opponent, of another fight that had been cancelled, but the guy refuse to fight him. Nothing left to do… Just back home with great frustration and disappointment.
Almost two months of hard team work and money invested for the preparation! Even after all this, Noah showed up this morning at 11:00 at the academy to continue working as the professional he is. Something that many promotions and federations are lacking…
It is sad that the job of a fighters is not valued as it should be, as they are the ones who really maintain the business of these companies. They sacrifice almost everything to be there, and are often grateful in this way. It hurts me to see these cases, and even more when it happens to my students, since I spend every day in preparation with them, body and soul.
