A wonderful and unforgettable day! Where more than 40 women attended our Meetup and free Martial Arts seminar in the city of Saarbrücken (Germany). A seminar that consisted of more than two hours, where the girls there had the opportunity to attend a kickboxing class by trainer Sarah Barakah, a self-defense class by trainer Dani Koenig and a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class by brown belt Katrin Welker. Three trainings, where the main focus was self-defense in case of aggression, always directed in a simple and effective way, and if possible, trying to avoid conflict or physical contact.

At all times we seek to be realistic and keep our women safe, without trying to sell something fancy or non-functional in real life. Our teachings are based and tested in real situations, yet always being cautious and as we said before always leaving self-defense as a last option if possible.

Our Casa De Luta Saarbrücken Only Women´s Seminars are 100% free for participants. We try to bring as much martial arts, self-defense and empowerment to local women as possible in one afternoon. This is a great opportunity to network with other women and get motivated for your own martial arts ambitions!

Our experience has shown that women only events are a low-threshold way for women to try martial arts in a safe environment who have been reluctant to do so due to fear of injury or personal reasons. We want martial arts to help more women lead more empowered and fear-free lives. For this reason, we are creating a safe space where every participant can simply try herself out for the first time without any pressure to perform or shyness.

Through martial arts, we've noticed how essential things in our lives have changed: how we talk, walk, and feel - with a fair amount of confidence and self-esteem. Enough to say no when we feel uncomfortable. Enough to walk home at night with our heads held high and without fear. And enough to fight back when we need to.

Women of all ages, backgrounds and fitness levels are welcome! Previous experience in martial arts is not necessary, only the basics are taught at the events. We want you to realize how strong you really are!

Pierre Manzo and Arthur Leroy from Jiu Jitsu Family at Casa de Luta Saarbrücken

Yesterday, Saturday, we had the visit of our brother and good friend, Pierre Manzo , black belt under Robert Drysdale , and Head Coach at Jiu Jitsu Family. Along with him, one of his students, a talented 20 year old monster, who has been training already, in teams like the B-Team in Texas with Craig Jones, Nick Rodriguez, Nicky Ryan, Oliver Taza, etc.. The Open Mat started as usual at Casa de Luta Saarbrücken at 11:00, where every team is welcome and completely free of charge. Pierre and I got together for more than an hour where we were able to kill each other and exchange knowledge during the rolls, as well as help him with the mechanics of some of my leglocks. Matt Kiichi Heafy is one the many rock stars bitten by the Brazilian jiu-jitsu bug. The 31-year-old lead singer and guitarist for the heavy metal band Trivium has been training BJJ since 2013 (ten years after the band’s first album), and he has developed such a fondness for the Gracie art that he brings a trainer and a set of mats around with him on tour. Even if you’re not a heavy metal fan, you’re probably familiar with Matt Heafy. Last year, our very own Emil Fischer sat down with him to talk about his love of Brazil’s soft art. Yesterday afternoon, Emil once again sat down with Heafy, who’s now a two-stripe purple belt. This time, though, I had the pleasure of joining in. As I have been previously announced about Noah Gugnon future, our Casa de Luta MMA Saarbrücken fighter, signed with Bellator MMA for the event on Saturday, September 29th in Dublin, Ireland. Noah Gugnon will face Mark Ewen, Ranked as the number-one amateur in the UK before he turned professional. Noah Gugnon 4-0-0 Entering Dublin for his Bellator debut as well. France’s Gugnon already has a fight booked for June 10th, as he looks to match Mark’s four-and-zero record at Kingdom Fighting 1.
