Coach Katrin Welker BJJ Seminar at Simply Badass Bootcamp in Austria

Become the Badass you truly are

chinkillas mission is to help you become stronger, more confident & simply badass. Join our Bootcamp in Austria to work out and enjoy the mountains with like-minded women.

During the 5-day camp we offer the following sessions: Kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Self Defense, Fitness Challenges, Yoga & Mental Empowerment. You will stay in a charming mountain lodge where you will have delicious breakfast and dinner cooked with love every day.

Martial Arts, Self Defense, Fitness, Yoga & Mental Empowerment

After your arrival on Thursday afternoon, you can first arrive at our cabin in peace, before we welcome you warmly and introduce the chinkilla team. Afterwards we will enjoy a 3-course meal cooked with love followed by a bootcamp intro and informal introductions.

The first day starts with an outdoor yoga session and a balanced breakfast. In the morning, it's off to a trail run that challenges both the body and the brain! The different teams collect points in fitness and teambuilding challenges - may the best team win! After a fortifying lunch, an intensive kickboxing session follows - both beginners and advanced will get their money's worth here. Finally, you can relax with an extended stretching session before we return to the lodge and have dinner together.

Wake up - Day 2 is waiting for you! After the morning yoga session and breakfast, it's on to Round 2: Brazilian Jiu Jitsu! In the afternoon, self-defense, empowerment talks and girl power fitness are on the agenda. After dinner, we'll grill s'mores over a campfire or pull the board games out of the closet - weather permitting.

Our last day of training has a fitness course in store for you - again teamwork and stamina are required. During another round of kickboxing you can repeat everything you have learned and, depending on your level, spar with your training partner. An extended stretching session ends the training part of the day before we fill our bellies for the last time at dinner.

Quote of Casa de Luta Coach Katrin Welker:

"I am thinking about how to describe the experience of the @chinkilla Bootcamp in Austria for several days now. And still lacking of words.
🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ First of all I want to thank @danikoenig_ and @sarahbarakah to invite me as a BJJ coach for the Camp. I am more than happy and thankful, that my life was leading me to that point. This somehow ensures me that I did something right, that I am on a good way and all the sacrifices were worth it. Thank you for make it possible for all of us to meet and make this kind of experience, really miss all of you! 😍
See, when I thought about this Camp it was like "Badass Ladies, Martial Arts and Yoga, amazing nature...this is going to be awesome". But it was so much more than that. 💙💙💙 All of us left with a deep connection and empowerment. I am still holding on to that feeling, and I know for sure: If I ever struggle on my way to help other women through Martial Arts I just have to remember my days in the Camp. 💪 You girls do more than an amazing Job. You simply have magic! 💫
Thanks as well to @lizzaziegler for the amazing Photos.
To @hello_phi
@francipanki @ellaaluna for beautiful Yoga Sessions and delicious food.
To @franziskalucia
and @chemischesreh, you are so inspiring! 🤼‍♀️🥊"

Pierre Manzo and Arthur Leroy from Jiu Jitsu Family at Casa de Luta Saarbrücken

Yesterday, Saturday, we had the visit of our brother and good friend, Pierre Manzo , black belt under Robert Drysdale , and Head Coach at Jiu Jitsu Family. Along with him, one of his students, a talented 20 year old monster, who has been training already, in teams like the B-Team in Texas with Craig Jones, Nick Rodriguez, Nicky Ryan, Oliver Taza, etc..    The Open Mat started as usual at Casa de Luta Saarbrücken at 11:00, where every team is welcome and completely free of charge. Pierre and I got together for more than an hour where we were able to kill each other and exchange knowledge during the rolls, as well as help him with the mechanics of some of my leglocks. I also had the opportunity to roll with Arthur, Pierre's talented young student, a very technical guy with great precision on his attacks, with very good guard passes to back take, dangerous! Very dangerous. So I had to be careful with my leg attacks, avoiding at all times exposing my back by actively changing positi

BJJ SAARBRÜCKEN: Trivium’s Matt Heafy “BJJ is a way of life”

Matt Kiichi Heafy  is one the many rock stars bitten by the Brazilian jiu-jitsu bug. The 31-year-old lead singer and guitarist for the heavy metal band Trivium has been training BJJ since 2013 (ten years after the band’s first album), and he has developed such a fondness for the Gracie art that he brings a trainer and a set of mats around with him on tour. Even if you’re not a heavy metal fan, you’re probably familiar with Matt Heafy. Last year, our very own Emil Fischer  sat down with him  to talk about his love of Brazil’s soft art. Yesterday afternoon, Emil once again sat down with Heafy, who’s now a two-stripe purple belt. This time, though, I had the pleasure of joining in. The three of us talked about leg locks and Heafy’s love for Eddie Cummings’ style, a style which Matt sadly feels he has inadequately replicated. He even went so far as to apologize to Cummings for it. He also found out that for Matt Heafy, the saying “BJJ is a way of life” is more than just a cliche.  Brazil
