Casa De Luta Fightklub Wrestling Saarbrücken Coach Jurij Kohl

Jurij Kohl (born May 17, 1975 in JambylKazakh SSR) is a retired amateur German Greco-Roman wrestler, who competed in the men's lightweight category and current trainer at Casa De Luta Fightklub.

After moving from Kazakhstan to Germany, Jurij Kohl, who is of Russian-German descent, not only made a career for himself on the wrestling mat as a three-time German champion in the Greco-Roman style and by winning one of the coveted Olympic quota places for Athens 2004, he also qualified as a police officer for the higher service via the technical college. Kohl characterizes himself as hardworking and determined.

Career

In Kazakhstan, ethnic Germans had the opportunity to make a name for themselves through sports and to move up in the Soviet system. Jurij Kohl first tried his hand at sports acrobatics and switched to wrestling at the age of eleven because his father had become aware of this sport through the successes of other athletes. So he sent the filius to wrestling training, where coach Viktor Sisoew discovered and encouraged his talent. Kohl's actual wrestling career in the Greco-Roman or "classic" style, however, did not begin until 1993 in Köllerbach in Saarland, where the family had moved after the great political change.

Before his competitive sporting career ended in 2012, Kohl trained full-time as a member of the wrestling club for KSV Köllerbach and ASV Mainz 88, under his personal coach Frank Hartmann.
