Nate Diaz answers Vicente Luque's challenge: "Let's fight then".

Fourth ranked middleweight fighter in the UFC, Brazilian fighter has been asking for a confrontation with American legend in recent times and is excited with positive response from the star: "It will be the fight of the year.

Vicente Luque's request for a fight against legend Nate Diaz is closer to coming true. On Monday afternoon, the American fighter published on Twitter the video in which the Brazilian welterweight says in an interview that he would like to face him in his next fight, and wrote a simple and direct answer:

"Let's fight then," Diaz published.

Nate's rare positive response excited Luque. The Brazilian immediately retweeted the post and tagged the UFC matchmakers and his manager to ask them to expedite the fight. "This will be the fight of the year @ufc @danawhite @seanshelby @AliAbdelaziz00 make it happen!!! When real fighters enter the octagon, fans know it will be a war 🔥," Luque wrote.

Despite losing his last two fights and not being in the top 15 of any weight class in the UFC today, Nate Diaz, 36, remains one of the most respected and challenged fighters in MMA worldwide. This is due to the stardom he achieved after becoming the first to finish Conor McGregor in the UFC in 2016 and combining with the Irishman to break the company's record for pay-per-view sales in the rematch between them.

After a loss to Leon Edwards in June, Diaz had been challenging Dustin Poirier, with whom he already had a cancelled fight in 2018. But Poirier will be fighting for the lightweight belt (up to 70.3kg) against Charles do Bronx in December.

Vicente Luque, 29, is currently ranked fourth in the middleweight (up to 77.1kg) rankings. He has won his last four fights, but sees his path to the belt "bottlenecked," since Colby Covington will be the next challenger to champion Kamaru Usman and he still has Gilbert Durinho (his teammate) and Leon Edwards (who has beaten him in the past) ahead of him. Luque has been asking to face Nate Diaz for some time and repeated the argument after the fight against Chiesa, in August, from which the clip posted by the American on Twitter was taken.

- For me, Nate is a fighter, and fighters fight. And I'm the kind of fighter who's going to make an exciting fight no matter who he's up against. Nate wants a big fight; I'm not going to get it by talking, but I'm going to get it by fighting. He knows and everybody knows that I'm going to go in there and try to rip his head off. Even if he tries to rip my head off, I'm going to keep moving forward. If the UFC wants an exciting fight, if Nate wants an exciting fight, I'm the name, I'm the guy," Luque said at the time.
