Ronaldo Jacaré Souza retires from MMA and explains his possible return to Jiu Jitsu competitions

- I have fought a lot, I retired very early from jiu-jitsu, I think I have fought a lot of MMA and I have no intention of fighting again. It is really over. I am retiring from MMA, and I am coming back to the sport that I made history, the sport that I like too much - said Jacaré.

Three-time black belt world champion, Jacaré said he was delighted with the recent evolution of jiu-jitsu. For now, the legend is dedicating himself to training, but left open the possibility of returning to the mat competitions soon.

- I am getting back to training, and who knows, maybe I will compete again. I am driven by challenges, and Jiu-Jitsu for me is becoming a challenge, because it is very evolved, there are many new things. It's beautiful to see.

Jacaré also talked about his career, told about the feeling after breaking his arm in his last fight for the UFC and revealed that he is opening an academy in Orlando, USA. Jacaré Jiu-Jitsu Academy should open in January 2022 and the fighter intends to promote a program for special children, with attention deficit, hyperactivity, autism, among others.

Ronaldo Jacaré, 41, retires from MMA with 26 wins, 10 losses, and one "No Contest". Jacaré came to the sport accredited by a stellar career in jiu-jitsu, in which, besides a world title in weight and two in absolute, he was Brazilian champion, World Cup champion, and ADCC World Champion. In this modality, he also had a historical rivalry with Roger Gracie.

He debuted in MMA at Jungle Fight and appeared to the world when he made the final of the Dream's middleweight GP in 2008. The peak of his career was in Strikeforce, where he was middleweight champion between 2010 and 2011. In the UFC, he was ranked #1, but injuries prevented him from competing for the belt - notably, in 2016, when he had to operate and refused to replace Chris Weidman in his fight against Luke Rockhold; Michael Bisping eventually stepped in and took the belt.
