After contract termination, Demian Maia is removed from the UFC rankings

At 43, the Brazilian made the last fight of his contract in June, when he lost to Belal Muhammad, but still wants a farewell fight in the organization.

Demian Maia was ranked 11th in the UFC's middleweight (up to 77kg) ranking, but is now officially out of the list. At 43 years old, the fighter from São Paulo ended his contract with the Ultimate in June, when he made his last fight, having lost to Belal Muhammad. With no contract renewal so far, his name has now been removed in this week's update.

Demian, who has fought for the middleweight and middleweight belts in the UFC, still dreams of fighting one more fight in the organization. Since his defeat to Muhammad, the Brazilian has said in interviews that he would still like to return once more to the octagon, and has chosen some ideal rivals, such as Nate Diaz or Donald Cerrone. At this moment, even though Demian's desire remains the same, there is no open negotiation with the UFC.

Demian has a record of 28 wins and 11 losses, and was in the UFC since 2007, where he arrived with six wins in six fights. In the organization, he has 22 wins and 11 losses. In April 2011, Demian faced Anderson Silva for the middleweight belt, but lost by points. At middleweight, in July 2017, the multi-champion in jiu-jitsu faced Tyron Woodley for the title and was defeated in the judges' decision.

Demian Maia's departure from the list of middle-men caused news in the category. Four of them gained a position: Li Jingliang (#11), Santiago Ponzinibbio (#12), Sean Brady (#13), and Muslim Salikhov (#14). Who ended up entering the list was former champion Robbie Lawler (#15), who has been on a four-fight losing streak.
